LE SSERAFIM “BOOMPALA” Korean Pronunciation & Meaning | K-pop Guide

Hey, K-pop students! 👋

I’m Student1, just another student who loves K-pop and wants to learn and enjoy it together with you!

Today, we’re talking about “BOOMPALA” by LE SSERAFIM, the title track from their second studio album PUREFLOW pt.1, released on May 22, 2026. 🧘‍♀️✨

The album arrived about three years after LE SSERAFIM’s first studio album UNFORGIVEN and opens a new chapter in their story.

This time, LE SSERAFIM aren’t simply telling us that they’re fearless.

Instead, they acknowledge fear — and explore how accepting it can actually make us stronger.

So, what exactly does “BOOMPALA” mean?

Let’s find out together!

✨ What Does “BOOMPALA” Mean?

Here’s the fun part:

“BOOMPALA” doesn’t really have one fixed dictionary meaning.

It works almost like a playful chant or a magic word.

Depending on how you hear it, “BOOMPALA” can feel like something you shout to lift your energy, shake off your worries and just have fun.

In the song, fear is treated as something that might feel real and overwhelming — but could actually be an illusion that grows stronger the more attention we give it.

So instead of feeding that fear, LE SSERAFIM basically tell us:

Let it go.

Have fun.

BOOMPALA! 💥

🌊 What Is PUREFLOW pt.1 About?

PUREFLOW pt.1 is LE SSERAFIM’s second full-length album.

The album contains 11 tracks:

Pureflow
BOOMPALA
CELEBRATION
Creatures
iffy iffy
우리 어떻게 더 사귈 수 있을까 (Need Your Company)
Sonder
Saki (feat. Aliyah’s Interlude)
Irony
Trust Exercise
Liminal Space

Before the full album arrived, LE SSERAFIM released “CELEBRATION” on April 24.

While LE SSERAFIM’s earlier identity was strongly connected to being fearless, this album takes a slightly different approach.

What happens when you finally admit:

“Actually, I am afraid sometimes.”

Instead of seeing that as weakness, PUREFLOW turns acknowledging fear into part of becoming stronger.

💃 How Does “BOOMPALA” Sound?

“BOOMPALA” is a bright, energetic dance track with a rhythm designed to make you move.

And there’s something very familiar hiding inside it.

The song samples “Macarena,” the massive 1990s hit by Spanish duo Los del Río. 💃

That familiar musical reference mixes with LE SSERAFIM’s modern pop sound to create something playful, energetic and instantly recognizable.

But underneath all that fun is a surprisingly thoughtful message.

The song draws inspiration from ideas of emptiness and impermanence, asking us to reconsider how much power we give to fear.

If nothing lasts forever, then maybe fear doesn’t have to control us forever either.

That idea is summed up perfectly by the message:

Nothing’s forever, so nothing’s to fear.

Suddenly, “BOOMPALA” starts feeling less like a random sound and more like a little ritual for letting things go. 🧘‍♀️

🎉 Turning Fear Into a Celebration

One thing I really like about “BOOMPALA” is that it doesn’t deal with fear by becoming dark or overly serious.

It does almost the opposite.

It turns fear into a party.

Instead of running away from anxiety, LE SSERAFIM face it, recognize that it doesn’t have to control them and then turn that realization into positive energy.

That also comes through in the music video and performance.

There’s a playful sense of release throughout the concept, almost as if everyone is being invited to stop overthinking for a moment and just enjoy being alive.

Sometimes you don’t need to defeat every fear.

Sometimes you just need to stop feeding it.

💡 Korean Tip with Student1

Let’s learn a few Korean words that help us understand the message behind “BOOMPALA”!

😨 두려움 (Duryeoum)

두려움 means “fear.”

It comes from the adjective:

두렵다 (duryeopda) = to be afraid / fearful

Fear is one of the most important ideas behind PUREFLOW pt.1.

This time, LE SSERAFIM aren’t pretending fear doesn’t exist.

They’re learning how to live with it without letting it control them.

☁️ 허공 (Heogong)

허공 means “empty air” or “empty space.”

So the image of trying to hold onto clouds floating in empty air represents something impossible to grasp.

It fits perfectly with the song’s idea that some of the things we fear may not be as solid or permanent as they seem.

♾️ 영원하다 (Yeongwonhada)

영원하다 means “to be eternal” or “to last forever.”

So:

영원한 건 없어

means:

“Nothing lasts forever.”

That idea is at the heart of “BOOMPALA.”

If nothing lasts forever, then neither does the fear you’re feeling right now.

❤️ 심장 (Simjang)

심장 means “heart” — specifically the physical organ.

And:

쿵쿵 (kungkung)

is a Korean sound word describing a heavy pounding or thumping sound.

So:

심장이 쿵쿵 울려

creates the feeling of your heart going:

Boom. Boom. Boom. ❤️

👋 안녕 (Annyeong)

You probably already know this one!

안녕 can mean “hi” or “bye” depending on the situation.

So when you hear:

하나 둘 셋 안녕

it has the playful feeling of counting:

“One, two, three — bye!”

A pretty fitting way to say goodbye to your worries.

💭 Student1’s Take

What I like most about “BOOMPALA” is how surprisingly simple its message becomes.

Fear can feel huge when it’s inside your head.

Sometimes we keep holding onto it, thinking about it and feeding it until it feels even bigger.

But what if we just let it flow?

What if we accept that fear exists without allowing it to decide everything for us?

That’s where “BOOMPALA” becomes more than just a catchy hook for me.

It almost feels like LE SSERAFIM created their own little magic word:

Overthinking? BOOMPALA.

Feeling anxious? BOOMPALA.

Need to let something go? BOOMPALA. 🧘‍♀️✨

And of course, sampling “Macarena” makes the whole thing even more fun.

Sometimes the best way to deal with your worries might just be to turn the music up and dance.
