I’m Student1, just another student who loves K-pop and wants to learn and enjoy it together with you!
Today, we have someone completely new to meet!
We’re talking about “SUN KISS” by TUIDE, a brand-new seven-member girl group under HYBE’s new label ABD. ☀️🌊
TUIDE officially debuted on August 24, 2026, with their first EP TUNE & PLAY and its title track “SUN KISS.”
The seven members are:
Seohee, Seoyeon, Elena, Jia, Saki, Seah and Yi Hani.
And since this is literally the beginning of TUIDE’s story, I’m really curious to see what kind of group they’ll become.
So, K-pop students, let’s meet TUIDE together! ✨
🌊 What Does “TUIDE” Mean?
The name TUIDE comes from the phrase:
“Tune the tide.”
The idea is about experiencing different flows around us, tuning them together and creating something new and enjoyable.
And I think that concept fits a multinational group really well.
Seven members.
Different personalities and backgrounds.
But one rhythm.
You could think of it like different waves eventually becoming part of the same tide. 🌊
🎧 Welcome to TUNE & PLAY
TUIDE made their debut with their first EP:
TUNE & PLAY
The album contains five tracks:
“ABD”
“SUN KISS”
“Echo”
“Flip-Flop Girl”
“GRLS”
The album title also gives us a pretty clear introduction to TUIDE’s identity.
TUNE represents bringing different musical languages and personalities into one rhythm.
PLAY represents the fun and freedom they discover while doing it.
Rather than trying to make everyone exactly the same, the idea seems to be about finding harmony while keeping those differences alive.
And “SUN KISS” is our first real introduction to that world.
☀️ What Does “SUN KISS” Mean?
The phrase “sun-kissed” is commonly used in English to describe something gently touched or colored by sunlight.
Think of warm skin after spending time outside.
Golden light.
A summer glow.
In “SUN KISS,” that image becomes something more emotional.
Being sun-kissed feels like allowing your natural personality, voice and energy to shine without forcing yourself to become someone else.
The message feels like:
“Trust your own rhythm. Let your real voice shine.”
And for a debut song, I think that’s a pretty fitting introduction.
🎶 What Is TUIDE’s “Soultronic” Sound?
One of the most interesting things about TUIDE’s debut is how they describe their musical direction.
Their sound brings together elements of soul, R&B and electronic music, creating a style they call “Soultronic.”
“SUN KISS” gives us our first taste of that identity.
Instead of going for an overwhelmingly aggressive debut, the track focuses on groove, rhythm and atmosphere.
There’s warmth in the vocals, but the electronic production keeps everything feeling modern.
The result feels relaxed and youthful while still having enough rhythm to make you want to move.
It’s an interesting first statement from a group that’s only just getting started.
🌈 Follow Your Own Rhythm
The lyrics of “SUN KISS” are filled with images of light, color, rhythm and movement.
But underneath all of that is a really simple idea:
You don’t need to perform a fake version of yourself.
You don’t need a huge show.
You don’t need someone else to tell you how you should move.
Listen to your own heartbeat.
Follow your own rhythm.
And use your own voice.
That message connects really nicely with TUIDE’s group concept.
Different people don’t need to lose their individuality to move together.
Sometimes the most interesting harmony comes from letting everyone keep their own color.
🎬 Black Sand, White Outfits & Freedom
The music video takes that feeling of freedom into a wide-open natural landscape.
The contrast between the dark scenery and the members’ lighter styling gives the video a really clean and striking look.
Rather than relying only on complicated sets, the open environment gives the members space to move freely.
And that works especially well for a song about trusting your own rhythm and expression.
For a debut music video, it feels less like:
“Look how perfect we are.”
And more like:
“This is where we’re starting. Come with us.” ☀️

💡 Korean Tip with Student1
Since TUIDE are just beginning their journey, let’s learn some fresh Korean expressions from their debut song!
🌅 서서히 (Seoseohi)
서서히 means:
“gradually”
“slowly”
or
“little by little.”
For example:
서서히 물들다
means:
“to gradually become colored.”
It’s a beautiful expression for describing a sunset, changing leaves or even feelings that slowly grow over time.
🎨 물들다 (Muldeulda)
물들다 literally means:
“to become colored”
or
“to become dyed.”
But Korean also uses it metaphorically.
A person can become influenced by an emotion, atmosphere or another person.
So:
서서히 물든
creates the image of something slowly becoming filled with a new color.
That fits the sun-kissed imagery of this song perfectly. ☀️
🌿 나른하다 (Nareunhada)
나른하다 describes that relaxed, slightly sleepy feeling you might get on a warm afternoon.
It can mean:
“drowsy”
“languid”
or
“pleasantly lazy.”
So:
나른한 햇살
isn’t just ordinary sunlight.
It has the feeling of warm, lazy afternoon sunshine.
Very summer. ☀️
🍴 베어 물다 (Beeo Mulda)
This is a fun one!
베어 물다 means:
“to bite into something.”
Normally, you might bite into an apple or another piece of food.
But the song uses the expression:
햇살 한 입 베어 물고
which creates the poetic image of:
“taking a bite of sunlight.”
You obviously can’t literally eat sunlight, but that unusual image makes the lyric feel much more vivid.
🫀 마음 가는 대로 (Maeum Ganeun Daero)
마음 = heart / mind
가다 = to go
대로 = according to / following
So:
마음 가는 대로
means:
“follow your heart”
or
“do what feels right to you.”
This expression fits the entire message of “SUN KISS.”
Don’t force it.
Follow your own feelings and rhythm.
🌟 펼치다 (Pyeolchida)
펼치다 can mean:
“to unfold,” “to spread out,” or “to show something fully.”
For example, you can 펼치다 a book, your wings, your imagination or your potential.
So:
펼쳐봐 너만의 move
has the feeling of:
“Show us your own move.”
It’s about expressing something that belongs specifically to you.
💭 Student1’s Take
For me, the most exciting thing about “SUN KISS” is that we don’t really know what TUIDE will become yet.
And that’s kind of the fun part.
This is their beginning.
Seven young members from different backgrounds are meeting in one group and trying to create their own musical language.
The whole “Tune the tide” idea makes more sense when you think about it that way.
Different waves.
Different rhythms.
Different colors.
But somehow, they have to learn how to move together.
And “SUN KISS” feels like a bright first step.
I especially like the message of following your own heartbeat instead of trying too hard to impress everyone else.
TUIDE are only at the starting line.
So now I’m curious:
